QUIET CONTEMPORARY WORKS THAT INVITE PAUSE & REFLECTION
ABOUT SYLVIE LAUZON
Sylvie Lauzon is a Montreal-based abstract mixed media artist working from her studio in the St-Henri neighborhood.
Her work explores the quiet tension between spontaneity and restraint. Through layered brushwork, collage elements, pencil marks and subtle textures, she creates compositions that feel both intuitive and carefully refined.
Fragments of words, traces of erased gestures and shifting forms emerge softly through the surface, inviting the viewer to slow down and look closer. Rather than overwhelming the eye, her paintings leave room to pause, reflect and linger.
Inspired by the balance between instinct and intentionality, Lauzon approaches each piece as a process of editing and discovery. Layers are added, obscured and removed until only what feels essential remains.
Her work embraces openness, negative space and quiet movement, offering a calm counterpoint to the intensity often associated with abstract expressionism. The result is a body of work that feels contemplative, atmospheric and deeply human.
Sylvie Lauzon’s work has been featured in Contemporary Collage Magazine, New & Abstract, and L’Hoxa InternationArt. She is also a proud member of the Abstract’d Art Collective.
